Revised timetable for consideration of the Legislative Consent Memorandum on the Trade Bill

March 2018

On 12 December 2017, the Business Committee agreed, in accordance with Standing Order 29.4(i), to invite the External Affairs and Additional Legislation Committee, the Economy, Infrastructure and Skills Committee and the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee to consider and report on the Legislative Consent Memorandum for the Trade Bill.

In accordance with Standing Order 29.4(ii), the Business Committee agreed that the Committee should report to the Assembly by 27 February 2018.

On 12 February the Chair of the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee wrote to the Business Committee requesting that the reporting deadline be extended in order to give full weight to the evidence received from the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport at a joint committee session with the External Affairs and Additional Legislation Committee. As a consequence, the Business Committee agreed to lay a revised report, amending the deadline for the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee, the External Affairs and Additional Legislation Committee and the Economy, Infrastructure and Skills Committee to report from 27 February 2018 to 16 March 2018.
